INSTALLATION
- All clients and servers should be upgraded at the same time
to the Autodesk Vault 2016 Service Pack 1
- All future Autodesk Vault 2016 hotfixes will depend on this
Service Pack being installed
- Depending
on how your UAC is configured on Windows 7 or later operating
systems, users may need to turn off User Access Control (UAC) to
install the Service Pack
- To install the Service Packs, Administrative privileges are
required.
- Thin Client Service Pack 1 installation is part of Server
Service Pack 1 installation.
- The same username which was used to install Thin Client
2016 should be used for installing Service Pack 1.
- Ensure the latest service packs of CAD applications are
installed before applying this Service pack.
- The service pack install may take
longer than expected in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2. To
avoid that install the following Microsoft Hotfix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2663352/en-us
For other Operating systems ensure Windows Update is up to date.
KNOWN ISSUES:
- Error 1904 may appear during installation and uninstallation of Autodesk Vault 2016 Service Pack 1 on clients with both Vault Basic and Vault Workgroup or Vault Professional installed. Click "Ignore" to continue; the update will install or uninstall successfully.
- Mapping Text with Number or Text with Date: Works well when all clients and the server are in the same language-locale. With mixed locales values may convert in a manner that is not intuitive and may produce an undesirable result. Therefore, mapping Text with Number or Text with Date is only recommended when the server and all clients are working in the same locale.
WARNING:
Failure to follow these instructions properly may result in unusable
sites. This procedure applies to Single Site, Multi Site
and Connected Workgroup deployments.
NOTE:
Always ensure that a successful backup has been performed before
applying this Service Pack.
Client
Service Pack 1 Installation - applicable to every
Autodesk Vault Client 2016
- Run "Autodesk Vault 2016 Service Pack 1 (Client).msp" on
the Vault Explorer client to install the Service Pack.
- Alternatively, install the Autodesk Vault 2016 Service Pack 1 update on the Vault Explorer client using Autodesk Application Manager.
Server
Service Pack 1 Installation - applied to every Autodesk
Data Management Server (ADMS)
- Open the ADMS Console.
- Make sure all databases are fully migrated to the latest
version.
- Migrate all unmigrated databases and libraries before
proceeding.
- It may be necessary to detach an unmigrated database if
the Service Pack addresses a migration problem.
- Close the ADMS Console application.
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the command
prompt.
- Run “Autodesk Vault 2016 Service Pack 1 (Server).msp” on
the ADMS server to install the Service Pack.
- DO NOT OPEN ADMS or AVFS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD BE
POSTPONED
UNTIL INSTRUCTED BELOW.
- Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server.
- DO NOT OPEN ADMS or AVFS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD BE
POSTPONED UNTIL INSTRUCTED BELOW.
Database
Update - applied ONCE from one Autodesk Data Management
Server (ADMS) instance as specified.
WARNING: DO NOT
PROCEED until Service Pack 1 has been successfully applied
on ALL ADMS and AVFS servers.
- Use the appropriate server and ADMS Console application.
- Single Site, use your only ADMS Console.
- Multi-Site (file replication), use any of the ADMS
consoles.
- Connected Workgroup (file and SQL replication) use one of
the ADMS Consoles on the Publisher Workgroup.
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the command
prompt.
- Open the ADMS Console and perform the database migration.
- If necessary, attach any previously detached databases and
allow the migration to complete.
NOTE: On
Connected Workgroup environments, the SQL snapshot agent may not handle
generating the initial snapshot. If this occurs, restart the SQL
snapshot agent.
SUMMARY
OF ISSUES ADDRESSED
Client:
- When "Include Plot Stamp" or "Watermark" is turned on for a plot, the resulting plot would not contain relative path xrefs.
- Document
Change State has been updated to apply to revision specific children
instead of
the latest children.
- Certain
characters in a path (ex. apostrophe or ampersand) would cause Copy
Design to
fail with the message, "Illegal characters in path".
- Autodesk
Exchange Apps were not loading properly with Vault Basic.
- Creating
a new lifecycle state using an ampersand would result in error 1420,
"Could Not Retrieve Watermark Definition" when accessing Vault
Settings.
- An
enhancement to support more plotters.
- Resolved
some files not having their properties synchronized when using Job
Processor.
- An
enhancement to the Reference Repair Utility for databases experiencing
"Unspecified
error” messages.
- Document
Change State has been updated to apply to revision specific children
instead of
the latest children.
- After
performing a search in Vault Explorer, clicking and dragging a file in
the
search results could cause the file to move to the folder that the
search was
performed from.
- Using
Dynamic Blocks in an AutoCAD DWG would result in property extraction
for only
one block. Other blocks would not be available for property mapping.
- Performance
improvement when making a lifecycle state change.
- When a User Defined Property has "Initial Value", Copy Design action rules would fail.
- Inventor formula in custom property would be lost after copying part using Copy Design.
AutoCAD Add-In
- AutoCAD DWGs that are saved to Vault using a legacy file format could become corrupted when performing an Open from Vault.
Inventor Add-In
- Logging into Vault from Inventor as a "Content Center library read only user" would result in an object reference error message.
- Mishandling of calls would result in incorrect "Inventor Apprentice failed to load..." messages. This would occur after workflows such as file renaming then a 'Get' or 'Check Out' operation.
- Performance enhancement for performing an Open from Vault from Inventor when Release Bias is selected.
- When performing multiple Open from Vault operations in Inventor, the list of files would always reset to the top of the list instead of presenting the last position in the list.
- Some BOM data was incorrect when checking in an Inventor assembly and the LOD is not the Master view.
Revit Add-In:
- Revit Vault add in update to allow saving a file when linked to another, checked out file in Vault.
- Solved a Revit add in issue where linked projects could overwrite user changes.
Items:
- When selecting historical revisions of Items, the vertical property pane was not updating to display properties for the current revision selection.
- In some cases, BOM data is not preserved properly resulting in an “Unknown Server Error” during check in or result in an Item update failure.
- In certain circumstances, while it is possible to go to an Item from a file, the Item cannot be found in an Item search or may not be listed in the Items details pane.
- NOTE: Once this update is applied, the affected Item must be edited and saved to completely resolve this issue.
- Exporting a Vault configuration, when Category rules for file and item exists with the same name, would result in a message containing, "An error occurred when applying configuration".
- This update includes the Vault Configuration Administrator which enables setting the File Item link Behavior to always create a standard component link for each sub-component created using the Assign/Update Item command. See the installation instructions for usage.
- An Item BOM display performance enhancement for Items containing many duplicate child Items.
- During Item creation, switching the numbering scheme could result in a CER.
Thin Client:
- The Autodesk Thin Client preview would fail to open for certain databases.
- The Autodesk Thin Client could not connect to ADMS using https if the http binding had been removed.
- Attempting to download large files using the Autodesk Thin Client would fail with an arithmetic over flow exception.
- For files that have multiple design visualization files attached via API, some DWFs could not be previewed in the Thin Client.
Task Scheduler:
- Performing a file migration in Task Scheduler would not correctly migrate all files.
CER (Crash Error Reports):
- Resolved Inventor CERs during the loading and unloading of the Vault add-in.
- Enhancements to avoid CERs for some Vault add-in startup crashes.
- Additional enhancements to avoid more general CERs.
Vault Configuration Administrator:
The Vault Configuration Administrator is now able to set the File Item link Behavior to always create a standard component link for each sub-component created using the Assign/Update Item command.
- Administrator may run the utility and set the option to always create standard component links for NEW sub-component during the Assign/Update item process.
- As a result of this configuration change, Assign/Update Item command will set all NEW sub-component links to be standard component links. The resulting link behavior will be the same as standard component link. Assign/Update Item will NOT update existing sub-component links.
- All NEW sub-component links will NOT honor the auto-select first duplicates flag.
- Vault Configuration Administrators may enable this configuration change by running a utility (via command line, no User Interface) and passing the proper arguments such as Vault Server Name, Vault name, Administrator ID (sa), etc. There will be no end-user level configuration setting to allow individual users to overwrite the Administrative setting (e.g. this is a Global Vault environment setting).
- To enable this configuration change:
- Download the configuration change utility provided with this cumulative hotfix.
- Unzip the configuration change files into a Vault Server local drive.
- Browse to the 'SetCreateStdComponentLinkSwitch' folder to find the 'fix.bat' script.
- Open the 'fix.bat' configuration script to configure the parameters according to your Vault environment.
- Execute the 'fix.bat' configuration script to set the designated server flag.
- To undo this change, repeat the above steps using the 'RemoveCreateStdComponentLinksSwitch' files provided with this Service Pack.
- In replicated Vault environments, run the configuration change script on the Publisher only. Running it on Subscribers may cause conflicts.
