Hardware Notes
For any product other than Render Software, all SGIs require a z-buffer, except Indy XL, and Indigo2 XL. Eight-bit graphics configurations are not supported.

A minimum of 128MB RAM is required.
[h1] Patch 2895 (6.4 Impact Graphics fixes) is required on all Octane machines.Without the patch, certain operations involving image planes and multipass hardware rendering can cause the Xserver or IRIX to restart.
[h2] Patch 2862 (O2 graphics bugfix and performance fixes) is required on all O2 machines. Without the patch, when using color gain and offset on image planes or texture maps displayed with OpenGL, Color values are not clamped correctly. If the color gain and offset cause the value of the pixel to be less than 0 or greater than 1 then the displayed color will be a random value.
[h3] Due to hardware limitation, High Impact machines without the optional TRAM hardware Renderview will not display correctly.
[h4] Patch 2677 (Indigo2 Impact IRIX 6.2 (Critical Apps)) is required on any machine with an Impact graphic board. Without the patch, certain operations involving image planes and multipass hardware rendering can cause the Xserver or IRIX to restart.
[h5] Hardware texturing will only work on the port to which it was first bound. So, if you need hardware texturing in "hardware render buffer", then make sure you enter into textured mode first in this window. If you need hardware texturing in the 3D view, make sure it is switched to that mode first. You cannot have both of these ports in textured mode while working on Reality Engine or Infinite Reality graphic boards.

Maya 1.0 plug-ins that require support for C++ exceptions will not function correctly on IRIX 6.2, 6.3 or 6.3 unless a part of patch 2483 is installed on the system. The only plug-in provided with Maya 1.0 that requires this functionality is ribExport. If you attempt to use such a plug-in without the necessary part of the patch installed, Maya will crash with the error:

Assertion failed in file "../../c++runtime/throw.cxx", line 841

Patch 2483 is quite large (approximately 150Megabytes), and unless you are using the MIPSpro 7.2 compilers, you don't require most of it. The part required by Maya plug-ins to support C++ exceptions is the "Standard Execution Libraries (C++)".

NOT SUPPORTED

Maya 1.0 IS NOT QUALIFIED and NOT SUPPORTED on R2000 and R3000 based systems:

In addition, the following Graphics Systems ARE NOT QUALIFIED and NOT SUPPORTED:
