pymel.core.modeling.trim

trim(*args, **kwargs)

This command trims a surface to its curves on surface by first splitting the surface and then selecting which regions to keep or discard.

Flags:
Long name (short name) Argument Types Properties
caching (cch) bool ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

Modifies the node caching mode. See the node documentation for more information. Note:For advanced users only.
constructionHistory (ch) bool ../../../_images/create.gif

Turn the construction history on or off
locatorU (lu) float ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

u parameter value to position a locator on the surface. Default:0.5
locatorV (lv) float ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

v parameter value to position a locator on the surface. Default:0.5
name (n) unicode ../../../_images/create.gif

Name the resulting object
nodeState (nds) int ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

Modifies the node state. See the node documentation for more information. Note:For advanced users only. Common flags
object (o) bool ../../../_images/create.gif

Create the result, or just the dependency node Flag can have multiple arguments, passed either as a tuple or a list.
replaceOriginal (rpo) bool

selected (sl) int ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

Specify whether to keep or discard selected regions. Default:0
shrink (sh) bool ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

If true, shrink underlying surface to outer boundaries of trimmed surface. Default:false
tolerance (tol) float ../../../_images/create.gif ../../../_images/query.gif ../../../_images/edit.gif

The tolerance with which to trim. Default:0.001 Advanced flags

Derived from mel command maya.cmds.trim

Example:

import pymel.core as pm

# Keep all selected regions
pm.trim( sl=0 )

# Discard all selected regions
pm.trim( sl=1 )

# shrink the underlying surface to just outside the
# outermost boundary curve
pm.trim( sh=1 )
