Regenerating Drawings Containing Text Hotfix |
This update will repair a problem that may cause a crash when regenerating drawings or switching between layouts in drawings that contain certain types of text.
Description of Problem
If regenerating drawings that contain certain types of text, then AutoCAD® 2007-based products may crash.
The following are some actions that may force drawings to regenerate:
- Issuing the REGEN command
- Switching between layouts
- Zooming and panning
- Plotting
Other actions not outlined above may cause the same problem.

Installation Instructions
To install the Regenerating Drawings Containing Text Hotfix
You must have administrative privileges on your Microsoft® Windows® operating system to complete the installation process.
Note: This hotfix should only be applied after installing AutoCAD® 2007 Service Pack 1 or corresponding service packs for other affected products.
- Close all software applications.
- Find the product installation folder; for example c:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2007.
- In this folder, right-click the acdb17.dll file and select Properties.
- Click the Version tab and confirm the file version.
- If this file is version 17.0.116.0, then proceed with the installation.
- If this file is version less than 17.0.116.0, then you must first install AutoCAD® 2007 Service Pack 1 or corresponding service packs for other affected products.
- If this file is version 17.0.116.50 or greater, then this hotfix has already been applied and you do not need to proceed with the installation.
- In the product installation folder, right-click the file acdb17.dll and rename it acdb17.bak.
- Download and copy the acdb17.dll file to the same product installation folder.
- Right-click the new acdb17.dll file and select Properties. Click the version tab and confirm that this file is version 17.0.116.50.
Note: To remove this hotfix, delete the new acdb17.dll file that you downloaded to the product install folder and restore the file you renamed in Step 5 to its original name.
