To install Autodesk Design Review 2009 for a small workgroup
Run SetupDesignReview2009.msi in an Admin install mode using the case sensitive command: MsiExec.exe /a SetupDesignReview2009.msi TARGETDIR="network_share”
This will create an image of the setup file at the “network_share” from which users in the workgroup can remotely install the product and only at the default path. For successfully deploying the product, the following issues must be observed:
- The user who runs this admin install needs write access on the network share, while other users in the group could have only read rights on that share.
- Ensure workgroup members have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) available from Microsoft’s Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en. These Microsoft system components must be installed prior to installing Design Review 2009.
- This install method does not automatically uninstall the DGN and JT Import Plug-ins. Each user must manually uninstall previous versions of any Autodesk Design Review Import Plug-ins from the Windows Add and Remove Program Control Panel.
- To use a custom path for the installation, follow the instructions in the next section which details the process by which the product can be mass-deployed over your network.

To prevent a desktop shortcut from being installed
By default the installer creates a DesignReview.exe shortcut on the desktop which corresponds to the install internal property (ADSK_DESKTOPSHORTCUT_1) value being equal to 1. To disallow setup from creating this shortcut, the property’s value has to be set to 0. To change this value when setup is run from a DOS prompt, use the following case sensitive command: MsiExec /i SetupDesignReview2009.msi ADSK_DESKTOPSHORTCUT_1=0
MsiExec allows many properties to be set at the end of a command. All these properties are always uppercase. For a full list of MsiExec.exe generic command-line options, from the DOS prompt, type MsiExec.exe /?.
