This
service pack is for the English-language locked and unlocked versions of
Autodesk Land Desktop 3 running on English-language and non-English-language
operating systems. This service pack should not be installed on other versions
of Autodesk Land Desktop, AutoCAD, or other AutoCAD desktop applications.
This service pack contains fixes for both Autodesk Land Desktop 3 and for AutoCAD 2002. There are separate service packs for locked and unlocked versions of Autodesk Civil Design 3 and for locked versions of Autodesk Survey 3. If you have Civil Design or Survey installed on top of Autodesk Land Desktop, then you must also install those service packs in order to ensure product compatibility.
Note: There is not a service pack for unlocked versions of Autodesk Survey 3.
If you
have been experiencing some specific product performance problems, they may
have been fixed with this service pack. For more information on the specific
fixes, see Summary of the
Autodesk Land Desktop 3 Service Pack Fixes and Summary
of AutoCAD 2002 Service Pack 1 Fixes.
Important: You cannot run
an automatic uninstall to remove this service pack. It is strongly recommended
that you make a copy of all files installed with this service pack. That way,
you can restore Autodesk Land Desktop 3 to its pre-service pack state. For
more information about which files are affected by this service pack, see
Important File Backup Information.
The following Autodesk Land Desktop
3 Service Pack 1 versions are available on the Autodesk website.
·
LDT3_SP1_SL.exe (locked version)
·
LDT3_SP1_UL.exe (unlocked version)
If you download
the service pack using Live Update, the service pack version that you need
is automatically identified. If you download the service pack manually, use
the following guidelines to determine which service pack to download:
Download
and install the locked version of the service pack if you are using one of the
following:
·
Educational
or trial version of Autodesk Land Desktop 3
·
International version of
Autodesk Land Desktop 3 (The International version contains the word "International"
on the product label affixed to the outside of the Autodesk Land Desktop package
and the word "locked" on the CD label.)
Download and
install the unlocked version of the service pack in all other instances.
Important
information for locked installs: If you install
the locked version of this service pack, and you have an installed, locked
version of Autodesk Survey 3, then you must also install the Autodesk Survey
3 Service Pack 1 to maintain product compatibility. There is not a service
pack for the unlocked version of Autodesk Survey 3, so there is no such requirement
for users of unlocked versions of Autodesk Survey.
You must install Autodesk Land Desktop 3 on your machine prior to installing the Autodesk Land Desktop 3 Service Pack 1.
To install the Autodesk Land
Desktop 3 Service Pack 1, follow the instructions listed below.
Domestic single-user and International
single-user versions: To install Service Pack 1, browse to the location of the service pack
using Windows Explorer, and then double-click the file.
Client-based network licensed
versions: To install Service
Pack 1 to client workstations, log on to each client's workstation, browse
to the location of the service pack using Windows Explorer, and then double-click
the file.
Server-based network licensed
versions: To install Service
Pack 1 to a server-based installation, log on to the file server where the
network version is installed, browse to the location of the service pack using
Windows Explorer, and then double-click the file. This will update the installation
on the file server. No additional work is required at the workstations.
Note: If you receive an error message similar to “Cannot find the LDT.msi at this path,” the installer cannot find a file that is located either on the Land Desktop 3 CD or on the network deployment. If you receive this error, either insert the Land Desktop 3 CD or recreate the network deployment.
If you uninstall
any Autodesk Land Desktop 3, Autodesk Map 5, or AutoCAD 2002 extensions after
you've installed this service pack, you must repair the Autodesk Land Desktop
3 installation to reinstate the service pack.

In the
Autodesk Land Desktop 3 dialog box, after the program has added the components,
click Finish.
9.
If
prompted, restart your computer.
After this service pack is applied, you cannot
run an automatic uninstall to remove the service pack. You should make a copy
of all the files that the service pack installs. That way, you can delete
the service pack files manually if you want to restore Autodesk Land Desktop
3 to its pre-service pack state.
During
the installation of the service pack, your user profile is changed to <Unnamed
Profile>, and all your .mnu, .mn, .mnr, .mnl and .mnc files
in <Install Folder>\support location may be recompiled. Any toolbar
or menu customizations that were part of your former user profile could be
lost. You can easily switch back to the named profile after the service pack
installation. However, to ensure that you can restore your menu settings later,
be sure to back up all your menu files before the update. For more information,
see Important File Backup Information.
Download
progress may not be indicated during the update.
If you would
like to notify users in a network installation of this service pack's availability,
but you have disabled Live Update notifications, you can use the Bulletin
Board in the Today window.

Issues with LandXML
This service pack includes updates
to the LandXML schema and to the Import LandXML and Export LandXML commands.
When you install this service pack,
the existing Autodesk Land Desktop online Help file is not updated with the
changes to the LandXML commands. The following topic summarizes the changes
to the LandXML commands and, where applicable, lists the relevant Help topics
that are affected by these changes.
Change to the Schema Version
·
The LandXML schema is now version
1.0.
Changes to the Export LandXML
Command
·
LandXML
Export Dialog Box: An
option is now available on the main LandXML Export dialog box for exporting
point references for surfaces (in addition to the existing functionality for
exporting point references for parcels and alignments). If you select the
Surfaces check box under Point References, then the Export LandXML command
creates COGO point references, where possible, for the surface geometry.
For general
information about exporting point references, see "Exporting LandXML
Data from Autodesk Land Desktop" in the online Help.
·
LandXML
Export Data Options Dialog Box: A setting for Angle/Direction format is now available in the LandXML
Export Data Options dialog box. Use this setting to control the units of the
exported angles and directions.
Under
Angle/Direction, select one of the following formats:
Decimal
degrees: Exports angles and
directions as decimal degrees. Decimal degrees express the minutes and seconds
of an angle as its decimal equivalent. For example, 3°30'36" equals 3.51
decimal degrees.
DDD.MMSS: Exports angles and directions using the
degrees, minutes, and seconds convention, in which the numbers after the
decimal are read as minutes and seconds, not decimal degrees. For example,
3°30'36" equals 3.3036.
Grads: Exports angles and directions using grads
(where one grad equals 1/100 of a 90° angle, or 360° = 400 grads).
Radians: Exports angles and directions using
radians (where 2PI radians equals 360°).
Note: Directions are always reported in
azimuths. The LandXML schema does not support bearings.
For more information
about the LandXML Export Data Options dialog box, see "Changing the
LandXML Export Data Options" in the online help.
·
LandXML
Export Data Options Dialog Box: The Point Descriptions setting in the LandXML Export Data Options
dialog box now contains options to export both a "desc" and a
"code" attribute. The "code" attribute is new in this
version of the schema. Previous to this service pack, when you exported either
a point's raw or full description, the description was exported as the point's
"desc" attribute. Now that there are two attributes (desc and code)
associated with a point's description, you can export both the raw and full
descriptions at the same time.
1.
In the LandXML
Export Data Options dialog box, under Point Descriptions, select the "code"
check box to export point description data to the "code" attribute.
2.
Select either
Raw Description or Full Description from the list.
§
Raw
Description exports a point's raw description, prior to description key
substitution, to the "code" attribute.
§
Full
Description exports a point's full description, after description key
substitution, to the "code" attribute.
Note: Typically you would export the raw
description to the "code" attribute.
3.
Select the
"desc" check box to export point description data to the
"desc" attribute.
§
Full
Description exports a point's full description, after description key
substitution, to the "desc" attribute.
§
Raw
Description exports a point's raw description, prior to description key
substitution, to the "desc" attribute.
Note: Typically you would export the full
description to the "desc" attribute.
4.
Select the Skip "Desc"
When Same as "Code" check box to export only one value if both values
are equivalent. For example, if the raw and full descriptions are the same,
then only one value is exported (to the "code" attribute). This
would occur when points do not have defined description keys.
For more
information about the LandXML Export Data Options dialog box, see "Changing
the LandXML Export Data Options" in the online Help.
Changes to the Import LandXML
Command
·
LandXML
Import Data Options Dialog Box: A new option for importing either the "code" or
"desc" point description attribute is now available in the LandXML
Import Data Options dialog box.
1.
Under Point
Descriptions, do one of the following:
§
Select the Use
"Desc" Value option to import point descriptions that were exported
to the "desc" attribute.
§
Select the Use
"Code" Value option to import point descriptions that were exported
to the "code" attribute.
2.
Select the If
Not Found, Try "Desc" (or "Code") check box to import the
other attribute if the selected one does not exist in the file. If you do not
select this check box, and the file you are importing does not contain point
descriptions in the selected format, then point descriptions are not imported.
For more information about the LandXML Import Data Options dialog box, see "Changing the LandXML Import Data Options" in the online Help.

On
network-deployed Autodesk Land Desktop installations, there are no Live Update
notifications on the Autodesk Point A portion of the Today window. As a result,
you must download updates from the Point A site using an Internet browser and
then manually apply them at each workstation.
During the
installation of an update, Autodesk Land Desktop should not be running on
any of the client machines, or the installation image on the server may be
corrupted.
It is
also strongly recommended that you apply the update to the administrator machine
first. (This is the computer from which the network deployment was installed.)
After you apply the update on the administrator machine, start applying the
update on client systems. You must apply an update to each client machine
before running Autodesk Land Desktop.
During
the installation of an update, you are prompted for the original installation
CD or network image. Make sure that each computer is connected to the network
location where the installation image resides. After you have applied an update
to the network image, you need to apply an update to each newly created client
you set up.
You cannot
run an automatic uninstall to remove this service pack. It is strongly
recommended that you make a copy of all files installed with this service pack.
That way, you can restore Autodesk Land Desktop 3 to its pre-service pack
state.
Depending
on the product and the type of installation, this service pack updates the
following files for Autodesk Land Desktop 3:
