Duplicating a layer is useful when you need a copy of an existing layer to make further edits without affecting the original.

1. In the Layers window, ensure the display button at the top is set to Paint.
2. In the Layers window, select the layer you want to duplicate, then do either of the following:
   • From the Layers window menu ( ), select Duplicate Layer.
   • Right-click in the Layers window and select Duplicate Layer from the menu that appears.
