Feature Limitations

This section lists known limitations and workarounds for Maya LT.

Animation

  • (MAYA-51394) Because of new modeling and editing workflows, the selection scheme of newly created polygon objects such as polySphere and polyCube changed in this release. As a result, some operations, such as creating a motion trail or an animation snapshot, do not work as before with newly created objects. In order to be able to properly create a motion trail, the object must be deselected and reselected to get the expected behavior.

Animation - Evaluation Manager

Notes on Parallel mode:

  • (MAYA-46457) Scenes with multiple attribute level cycles may produce different results with Evaluation Manager (Parallel mode). Strive to eliminate cycles from your scenes.

Notes on GPU override mode:

  • The most commonly used configurations of the following deformers are currently supported by GPU override mode: skinCluster, blendShape, cluster, tweak, softMod, polySmoothFace, groupParts. However certain less common settings are not supported. Refer to the documentation for more details.
  • Disable backface culling on meshes to take advantage of GPU override. (MAYA-47103)
  • (MAYA-45486) Due to driver instabilities, GPU override is disabled when using Viewport 2.0 OpenGL Core Profile on Nvidia cards.
  • (MAYA-41344) Due to driver instabilities, GPU override is disabled on Mac OS X with Nvidia Quadro 4000 card.
  • (MAYA-47643) Disable OpenSubdiv smooth mesh preview on Mac OS X to take advantage of GPU override.
  • (MAYA-50137) The polygon count HUD option can cause performance conflicts with GPU Override in some scenes. If you experience poor performance with both of those options enabled, try disabling the HUD by selecting Display > Heads Up Display > Poly Count in the main menu bar.

Modeling

  • (MAYA-39990) Cannot flip UVs of multiple objects simultaneously.

    Workaround: Flip UVs for each object individually.

  • (MAYA-40113) Mesh may flicker when sculpting in DX11 viewport.
  • (MAYA-42167) UV Attribute Transfers don't work if source has no history.

    Workaround: Open the Node Editor, break the connection from .worldMesh, but use .outMesh. The attribute transfer should work again.

  • (MAYA-47328) Mac OS: Stamp thumbnail sometimes does not display in the sculpt tool settings window
  • (MAYA-50369) UV Checker Map display does not update on selection change.

    Workaround: Toggle 'Display checker tiles' in the UV Editor on/off to force a display refresh.

  • (MAYA-50620) While using the Grab UV Brush, deleting history may rearrange UV component IDs.
  • (MAYA-51029) While in UV Editor, Soft Select doesn't work on any components other than UVs.

    Workaround: To use soft select In the UV Editor, switch to UV component mode.

Rendering

  • (MAYA-38410) Some artifacts occur in Viewport 2.0 and Hardware 2.0 renderer on Mac pro (ATI FirePro D500 and D700) with lighting enabled.
  • (MAYA-44933) If a Maya window (such as the Hypershade) loses focus, it is possible that any torn off window associated with that UI may have difficulty re-docking in the parent UI. To overcome this, select the parent UI and reset the focus back to it and retry docking the window again.
  • (MAYA-47246) When motion blur is enabled, static meshes may become blurred after translation.

    Workaround: Disable Consolidate World from the Viewport 2.0 options window (Renderer > Viewport 2.0 > option box).

Color Management

  • (MAYA-42107) Textured scenes opened or imported from an FBX file are not color-managed.
  • (MAYA-45075) SSAO is too faint by default with Color Management enabled.

    Workaround: Set a higher value for Amount and Radius of SSAO.

Interoperability

  • (MAYA-40051) You can export Maya transform node custom attributes to the user properties of FbxNode. However, you cannot export Maya shape node custom attributes, such as mesh node, to FbxGeometry. This is because FbxGeometry does not currently support user properties.

    FBX does not support the export of every Maya attribute, for example, SmoothDrawType, or ShaderFX primitive variable node attributes.

    If the FBX plug-in encounters an attribute on export that it does not support, it resets the attribute to its default value on re-import.

The first time you start Maya LT, the Customer Involvement Program dialog box appears. If you choose to participate in the Customer Involvement Program, Maya LT automatically sends Autodesk information about your system configuration, what features you use most, any problems that you encounter, and other information helpful to the future direction of the product.
