Script Error with Registration and Authorization for Users with Accented Characters in the Username

Users with accented characters in their user login names may encounter problems when attempting to register and authorize Autodesk Products. This applies to user login names which may include high ASCII characters like ä, ã, or double-byte characters that are common in Japanese, Korean, or Chinese.

Download the ZIP file provided, and perform the following instructions.

To install the files on the target computer

  1. Close all other applications and log in as Administrator.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file to a temporary directory.
  3. Navigate to the directory where the Autodesk product is installed, usually C:\Program Files\[Autodesk product name].

    NOTE: If you are updating an AutoCAD-based product, make sure that you navigate to the correct directory (for example, C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2004, or C:\Program Files\Autodesk Map 2004).

  4. In the Autodesk product's directory, right-click ereg.dll, click Rename on the shortcut menu, and then enter a new name (for example, ereg.bak).

    NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you rename ereg.dll before proceeding.

  5. In the temporary directory, right-click ereg.dll and click Copy.
  6. Navigate back to the Autodesk product's directory, right-click, and then click Paste.
  7. In the temporary directory, select the following files, and then click Copy.

  8. In the Autodesk product's directory, navigate to the Webdepot directory, right-click, and then click Paste.
  9. Restart your computer.
