In Maya, a set of dynamic curves that simulate hairstyles and hair behavior, as well as other effects such as ropes, chains, suspension bridges, sea creatures, or lofted surface behavior.

A hair system is a collection of hair follicles, each of which hosts a hair curve and includes various attributes for modifying the appearance and style of the hair, including a braid attribute. The hair system output can be in the form of NURBS curves, Paint Effects strokes, or both.
