Platforms marked Untested have not been tested in any way by Alias, and at time of press are NOT Qualified. These pages will continue to be updated as new hardware is qualified.
Platforms marked Unsupported indicate that StudioTools cannot operate to our standard of performance, stability or quality and at time of press are NOT Qualified.

Important Notes:
 [1]  Ultra10 workstations support Creator3D and Elite3D graphics only.
[2]  Patch revisions and dependencies are based on Solaris 8 Release 4/01. Earlier or later Solaris 8 releases may have different patch dependencies. Please read the README file in each patch for patch dependency and patch obsolete information.
Ensure that you load the correct patch revision. The two-digit suffix at the end of the patch number indicates the qualified patch revision. Installed patch revisions should be the same or greater than the revision numbers shown in the table above unless otherwise noted.
Solaris patches can be downloaded from Sun Microsystems at: http://sunsolve.sun.com/
Sun OpenGL can be downloaded from Sun Microsystems at: http://www.sun.com/software/graphics/OpenGL/

Limitations regarding OpenGL 1.2.3:
Patches 112628-01 (OpenGL1.2.3, 32 bit) and 112629-01 (OpenGL 1.2.3, 64 bit) are recommended by Sun for use with OpenGL 1.2.3. These patches cause graphics instabilities in StudioTools. Inital testing show that StudioTools will run on systems without these patches, however, StudioTools is not qualified and is to be considered Unsupported with OpenGL 1.2.3 at this time.

Please Read
  • StudioTools is qualified for use at a screen resolution of 1280X1024. StudioTools may run properly at larger or smaller resolutions, but other resolutions are not supported. The solaris fbconfig command may be used to change screen resolutions.
  • A three button mouse is required.
  • At least 128 MB of RAM is required and 256 MB is recommended to run StudioTools for the Solaris(TM) operating environment.
  • The patches specified in this table are the patches that were used for the qualification process. While it may be possible to use StudioTools for the Solaris(TM) operating environment successfully with earlier or later patches, Alias cannot guarantee their performance or reliability.
  • It may be possible to successfully use StudioTools for the Solaris(TM) operating environment with a non-qualified configuration, but support and maintenance programs will be subject to the Alias Support Services guidelines.
  • Certain Sun Microsystems keyboards have layouts that could make marking menus and hotkey commands difficult to use. On these keyboards the Caps Lock and Control key locations are reversed. If you have a Sun keyboard that does not have the Control key at the bottom-left corner and you find hotkeys or marking menus difficult to use, it is recommended that you order a replacement keyboard from Sun Microsystems.
  • The information in this document is current as of the date of publication. Alias will continue to explore new candidates for StudioTools qualification for Sun Microsystems / Solaris (TM) operating environment and will monitor the current configurations.
