Getting Version Information From a Scene

The printver standalone outputs the Softimage version used to last save a scene (.scn) file or an exported model (.emdl) file without opening Autodesk Softimage. Softimage Model (.mdl) files are not supported.

Usage

printver [-q] <scene filename>|<exported model filename>

Where <scene filename>|<exported model filename> is the name of the scene file including the .scn extension, or exported model file including the .emdl extension for which you want to the version used to last save the scene or model.

Options

- q

Specifies quiet output which prints only the version number with no additional text. The version number is output in the format of Major.Minor.BuildNumber.UpdateNumber. For example, 8.0.114.0

Without the -q option, the output is as follows:

This Scene was built with version: 8.0.114.0

Note: Softimage's internal version number may not match the one used in its product display name. For example, 8.0 is the internal version number for Autodesk Softimage 2010. Version 2010 is used in the product name for the splash screen and install path, but the scene information and the Softimage SDK will return the version number as 8.0.
