- Uninstall Design Review 2008.
- Reinstall Design Review 2008.
- Download AutodeskDesignReview2008_SP1.msp.
- Execute the installer to update the existing program.
- Prior to installing the service pack, users of localized versions of Design Review should have the localized Batch Print plug-in installed. This is a free download from Autodesk.com. If a localized version of the Batch Print plug-in was not installed previously, and the user tried installing the service pack, English dialog boxes were displayed.
Solution:
- Uninstall Design Review 2008.
- Reinstall Design Review 2008.
- Install localized Batch Print plug-in.
- Download AutodeskDesignReview2008_SP1.msp.

Primary Issues Fixed by this Service Pack
API
- The SaveAs() API does not work as described in the API Help file.
- API functionality for CExpressViewerControl1.ECompositeViewer.Commands("GRIDROLLOVER").Visible = False has no effect.
- The IAdContent2 API works with DWF version 6.11 but does not work with DWF version 6.2.
- The API HTML parameter for markup visibility, when set to false, fails to turn off markups.
- The ToolbarVisible API returns an incorrect value when the user sets the Main Toolbar visibility via the right-click menu.
Canvas/Data Panes and Navigator Palettes
- When a measurement under a custom User Coordinate System is clicked, the Properties palette may not render properly after the screen refreshes.
- After deleting a DWF file's sheets from the Contents palette one at a time, choosing File > Open may trigger a CER.
- Repeatedly clicking the Contents palette's Minimize and Maximize buttons may cause the view of the palette's contents to change to Small Thumbnails.
- The Navigator Pane layout can no longer be changed after changing the Navigator Pane layout and choosing Edit > Undo.
- In the Views palette, the Sequences tree view of an Animation is no longer displayed if, while the animation is playing, the parent node of the animation is clicked.
- Occasionally, in the Navigator Pane, palettes cannot be opened by clicking a palette title bar and dragging it upward.
- The Navigator Pane palettes are hidden, after using the Maximize and Minimize buttons, after undoing a Navigator Pane Layout change.
- Deleting all the content from the Contents palette and exiting Design Review fails to save the changes to the file.
- 3D markup properties are not always displayed in the Properties palette.
- Switching the view from a 3D model to another sheet in the DWF file causes the Format Tools to become active.
- The Data Pane page counter shows zero total pages when a DWF file contains more than nine data sections.
- The View Cube is no longer visible after hiding and showing the Canvas Pane.
- Selecting Hide or Hide Others from the Model palette right-click menu may not work as expected.
Compare
- When attempting to compare a BOM data sheet a “Different Section Type” error displays. The error should be, “Unable to compare. The sheet selected for comparison must be a 2D sheet."
- When comparing DWF files, loading the second DWF file for comparison may take longer than expected.
- Reviewing and moving compared DWF sheets uses 2.2 MB of memory every three seconds.
- Moving the Select tool over comparison text uses 1 MB of memory every second.
Cross Sections
- Applying multiple cross sections to a 3D model, orbiting the view (with the Orbit tool), and clicking Previous View may cause the spacing in the name of the most recently created cross section to change.
- After cross sectioning a 3D model and creating a snapshot of the view, choosing Edit > Undo may cause Design Review to close unexpectedly.
- In some 3D DWF files, when creating cross sections, the section plane does not obscure the entire model.
- Cut geometry is not obscured by the section plane while moving or rotating the cut part(s).
- After renaming a cross section, choosing Undo may cause the section plane to be hidden in the Canvas Pane.
- When renaming a cross section, the focus of the Rename dialog box should be the Name text box not the OK button.
DGN Importer
- After importing a DGN file, the resulting DWF file does not display some colors accurately.
DWFx
- Some block content in DWFx files published from AutoCAD 2008 may not be displayed properly in Design Review.
- Some DWF files, published by Revit 2008, when converted to DWFx cannot be opened in Design Review.
- Some fonts in DWFx files published by AutoCAD 2008 may not be displayed properly in Design Review.
- Cancelling Save as DWFx, Open DWFx, or Import DWFx commands causes Design Review to leave a DXC file and/or a dwfexport file in the C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local settings\Temp folder. DXC and dwfexport are temporary files created by Design Review when working with a DWFx file. DXC and dwfexport files may be equal to or larger in size than the original DWF file.
- When publishing DWG files that contain CALS images, from AutoCAD, to DWFx the resulting file does not display correctly in Design Review.
- When saving DWF files as DWFx files, transparent images may not convert successfully.
- Saving a DWF file as a DWFx file may cause a "DWF converter Error".
Embedded
- When embedded, Design Review hangs after the user tells Internet Explorer 7 to allow blocked content.
- When Design Review is embedded in a Microsoft Office program, clicking Go Home from the Steering Wheel menu button may cause 2D content to disappear from the Canvas Pane.
- When non-English versions of Design Review are embedded and the program window is resized to be small, some menu commands may be truncated vertically.
- When running custom HTML embedded in Internet Explorer, Design Review will hang, causing Design Review and Internet Explorer to close unexpectedly.
- When embedded, the Animation Toolbar is hidden when Standard Toolbar is switched off.
- When embedded, switching from one sheet to another in the Markups palette causes a save dialog to be displayed.
Georeferenced DWF
- Centering a georeferenced map to coordinates, when the Map toolbar is in Entry Mode, may not function as expected when viewing some DWF files.
Hyperlinks
- Navigating between DWF files by using hyperlinks may, when Internet Explorer is open and minimized, cause Design Review to close unexpectedly.
- Relative URLs are not supported in Design Review 2008.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Objects cannot be rotated using the keyboard arrow keys.
- The Animation Speed keyboard shortcut is still enabled when no animation is active.
- The Markup and Measure keyboard shortcuts are still available when an animation is playing.
- Keyboard shortcuts for animation controls do not work.
- Pressing the Spacebar fails to make the last used Steering Wheel active.
Measure and Markup
- After creating new markup on a 2D sheet, the markup's properties are not displayed in the Properties palette.
- On systems running Windows 2000, double-byte text in 3D markup may not display properly.
- Adding markup to a 3D DWF file from the markup tab does not save the markup.
- The markup callout anchor position may not be correct when dimensioning a 3D model with the Length/Radius tool.
- Changing the text size in 3D markups may cause a script error.
- Taking a snapshot while a markup text box is active on the canvas may trigger a CER.
- Difficult to select an edge to measure using the 3D Relative Distance tool.
- Point location measurements, when created under a custom User Coordinate System, may not be displayed properly.
- Clicking a 3D markup, in the Markups palette, before the DWF file has finished loading may cause Design Review to close unexpectedly.
- When dragging a 3D callout, its leader line is also selected as a snap point.
- Markup callouts created on a snapshot sheet are not displayed correctly.
- Rapidly selecting different sheets in the Contents palette may result in markups being lost.
- The Format Tools are disabled when a 2D markup is select in the Canvas Pane.
- Creating multiple text box markups on a 2D sheet may cause undesirable behavior.
- Pressing ESC while rotating markup on a 2D sheet may cause unexpected behavior.
Menus and Toolbars
- Under View > Show, the Hyperlinks, Paper Background, and Markups submenu items are not selectable.
- After selecting and viewing different sheets of a composite DWF file, the Hyperlinks and Markup items are not selectable from the View > Show menu.
- The Canvas Pane right-click menu may not display as desired when the Measurement tool is selected.
- All color choices, for Text Color, Line Color, and Fill Color, display as white in the Format tools drop-down list.
- When opening a password protected DWF file, clicking Cancel in the Password dialog box causes all toolbar buttons to be selectable.
- When the Design Review window is resized to a very small size, the Select Animation drop-down list (on the Animations Toolbar) cannot be used to select an animation.
- Occasionally, after selecting a tool from the Standard Toolbar (Pan, Zoom, Orbit, or Move and Rotate) the tool's icon appears to flicker between the currently selected tool's pointer and the standard mouse pointer.
- In the Data Pane, the Search Online right-click menu is still displayed when focus is shifted to another program window.
- The folder location of the last saved file does not appear in the File > Save dialog.
Options
- On the Sheet Tab in the Options Dialog box, changing the paper color has no effect.
- Changing the Hardware Acceleration settings in the Options Dialog box and then clicking previous view and next view may cause unexpected results.
- Disabling and enabling Hardware Acceleration may trigger a CER.
- In the Options Dialog box, unchecking dynamic highlighting causes the Move and Rotate tool triad hints and highlights disappear.
Print
- When printing, selecting Print Range > All results in incorrect printing of all 3D models other than the first 3D model in the DWF file.
- Viewing a print preview of a 3D model before selecting a 2D sheet in the Contents palette results in an incorrect view of the 2D sheet.
- Viewing a print preview of a 3D model before turning off Hardware Acceleration may cause Design Review to close unexpectedly.
- Navigating between sheets in the Print Preview dialog box may cause Design Review to close unexpectedly.
- 80 inches x 36 inches print output is cropped even though it appears uncropped in the Print Preview.
Pull Apart (Move and Rotate)
- Double clicking to reset a moved 3D part has no effect.
- The Move and Rotate triad does not appear when a part is selected before clicking the Move and Rotate tool button.
- If a 3D model has been pulled apart such that some parts are not visible in the Canvas Pane, Fit to Window may not function as expected.
- After pulling apart a model and saving a view to My Views, choosing View > Fit to Window causes a larger than desired area to be displayed in the canvas.
Shadows and Lighting Effects
- Shadows are not displayed properly when a part is moved along the X, Y, or Z axis.
- Shadows are not refreshed to the correct position after some operations such as Undo.
- Shadows are not disabled when navigation tools are in use.
- Shadows remain visible while zooming in or out.
- Applying different Lighting Effects and markup to 3D models and using the Markups palette to navigate to markup on another 3D model may result in the wrong Lighting Effect being applied.
Steering Wheels
- After clicking the Rewind tool on any Steering Wheel, no rewind history views are displayed.
- Clicking the Center tool wedge on the Tour Building Wheel multiple times causes the view on the Canvas to become distorted.
Undo/Redo
- After multiple Undo and Redo commands, clicking a 3D markup in the Markups palette may trigger a CER.
- Clicking Undo after deleting a sheet from the Contents palette prior to printing or saving may cause script errors.
- After minimizing the Views paletted while an animation is active, performing multiple Undo and Redo commands, the Animations tree may display in the Navigator Pane.
Other
- After successful installation, Design Review does not start when double clicking a DWF file, or when choosing Start > All Programs > Autodesk > Autodesk Design Review.
- SpaceTraveler inputs should be disabled if the Select tool is active and the mouse button is clicked while the mouse pointer is in the Canvas Pane.
- When an animation is paused printing, creating a snapshot, or choosing Edit > Undo may cause Design Review to close unexpectedly.
- If a CER is triggered when using the mouse wheel to zoom the view of a 3D model, update the graphics card device driver to the latest version. Then, in Design Review, disable hardware acceleration by choosing Tools > Options, selecting the Model tab, and unchecking Enable Hardware Acceleration.
- Edges of hidden 3D objects remain visible.
- When hiding an entire 3D model, some 3D object edges remain visible.
- When both Design Review 2008 and DWF Viewer 2007 are installed, opening a DWF file in embedded mode in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint launches DWF Viewer 2007 instead of Design Review 2008.
- When using the Zoom tool to zoom in close to a large 3D model, Design Review may hang.
General Updates
- Users are no longer required to download and install the Autodesk Design Review Batch Print plug-in to enable batch printing.
