The Autodesk® Shared Reference Point extension provides functionality to export known points and elevation from AutoCAD Civil 3D to an external file, in which Revit can import and setup a ‘Shared Coordinate System’. This enables the collaboration of exported RVT, DWG and NWC files back to AutoCAD Civil 3D and to coordinate models in Autodesk Navisworks.

This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this extension. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply this extension to your product. For reference, you should save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

General Installation Information


As you prepare to install these extensions, keep the following in mind:

Language Version This extension can be installed on any language version of Autodesk® Revit 2016 on all supported operating systems. Be sure to install the correct extension for your software.
AutoCAD Entities This extension creates base AutoCAD entities. There is no change to the AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing format and these objects can be used in other applications.
Apply Service Packs Autodesk strongly encourages all Autodesk® Revit® 2016 users to download and apply service packs. This extension supports Autodesk® Revit® 2016 and any services packs or updates which Autodesk releases for Autodesk® Revit® 2016 .
Back Up Custom Files It is recommended that you back up all custom files, including Revit.ini, before you apply this extension.
Administrative Privileges During installation, you will be prompted for the original installation media or a network image. In order to apply this extension, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Reboot After you install, it is recommended to reboot your system even if not prompted.
Uninstall This extension can be uninstalled by selecting the applicable extension in Control Panel. All files and command access options including menus will be removed.

Installation
Download the RVT_2016_SHARED_REFERENCE_ENG_64.exe to your desktop. Once downloaded, launch the Shared Reference Point extension installer by running the RVT_2016_SHARED_REFERENCE_ENG_64.exe from your desktop. Follow the instructions on screen to complete the installation. A new entry, Import Shared Coordinates from XML file, will be added to the Add-Ins ribbon within Revit.

Network Deployment

You can add the Autodesk Shared Reference Point extension into a Revit Network deployment.

  1. Download RVT_2016_SHARED_REFERENCE_ENGLISH_64.exe and save it to any local folder.
  2. Either start the Autodesk Revit 2016 deployment creation process or start the modification process for an existing deployment image.
  3. Expand the Additional Software section on the Product Selection page.
  4. Add RVT_2016_SHARED_REFERENCE_ENGLISH_64.exe by finding the folder where you saved the update (EXE) file.
  5. Optional: Specify /q in the Command Line Parameter field to run this install silently.
  6. Collapse the Additional Software section and complete your deployment setup.
