Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1

In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1, which fixes or addresses a variety of issues discovered by customers or by Autodesk's internal testing team.

NOTE: If you plan to use the Autodesk Network Installation wizard to deploy Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1, you must first download and run the Autodesk Network Installation Wizard patch. For more information, see Applying this Service Pack to an Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Network Administrative Image.

This Readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this service pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the service pack to your product. For your reference, you should save this Readme to your hard drive or print a copy.

Who Should Install the Service Pack?

This service pack is for the English-language locked and unlocked versions of Autodesk Raster Design 2004 running on English-language and non-English-language operating systems.

If you have been experiencing product performance problems, they may have been fixed with this service pack. For more information on the specific fixes, see New Features in Service Pack 1.

Locked and Unlocked Service Packs

The following Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1 versions are available on the Autodesk website:

This single service pack can be applied to any English-language locked or unlocked version of Autodesk Raster Design 2004. This service pack cannot be applied to Map Series or Civil Series 2004.

General Information

Important: You cannot run an automatic uninstall to remove this service pack. All files are affected by the installation of this service pack. To restore your version of Autodesk Raster Design 2004 to its pre-service pack state, uninstall Autodesk Raster Design 2004 and reinstall it.

New Features in Service Pack 1

This service pack fixes multiple issues in Autodesk Raster Design 2004. Several of the fixes are described in the following list.

Applying This Service Pack to a Stand-Alone Installation

  1. Download the service pack and save it to any folder.
  2. Insert your Autodesk Raster Design 2004 CD into your CD drive.
  3. Navigate to the folder where you saved the service pack.
  4. Double-click the executable file for the service pack to install it.

Applying This Service Pack to an Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Network Administrative Image

The following two methods of distributing Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1 apply only to administrative images created with the Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Network Installation wizard. After you complete these procedures, any new deployments of Autodesk Raster Design 2004 will have the service pack applied to them automatically.

NOTE: In both of the following procedures, the service pack file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file. You must extract that file from the executable file. To extract the MSP file from the executable, use the /e (extract) switch.

NOTE: The following procedures require you to first download and run the Autodesk Network Installation Wizard patch. This patch allows you to apply a service pack to an existing AutoCAD 2004-based product administrative image. You can find the patch on the Autodesk Support website at http://www.autodesk.com/rasterdesign-support. From this site, navigate using the following links: Data & Downloads > Updates & Service Packs > Autodesk Network Installation Wizard Patch.

To add Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1 to a new administrative image

  1. From the Autodesk Product Support website, download <Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1>.exe to your local computer.
  2. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information, and then click OK.

<local drive>:\<patch name>\ /e <local drive>:\<patch name.msp>

  1. On the computer where you installed the Network Installation wizard patch, on the Start menu (Windows), click Programs > Autodesk > Network Installation Wizard.
  2. In the Network Installation wizard, on the Welcome page, select Create an Administrative Image, and then click Next.
  3. On the Create Administrative Image page, in the Select Autodesk Installer (MSI) File box, enter the path to civil.msi, the MSI file you use as the basis for your administrative image. This file is found on your product CD-ROM, in CDROM:\BIN\Installer.
  4. In the Administrative Image Location box, enter an existing shared network location where you want to create an administrative image, or click Browse to navigate to a location. Users install Autodesk Raster Design from this location.
  5. Select the option Apply a Patch (Service Pack) to This Image.
  6. In the Select Patch box, enter the path to the patch location (the location you entered in step 2, including the extension .msp). You can also Browse to locate the MSP file.
  7. Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Network Installation wizard to complete the deployment of this service pack.

To apply Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1 to an existing administrative image

  1. From the Autodesk Product Support website, download <Autodesk Raster Design 2004 Service Pack 1>.exe to your local computer.
  2. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information, and then click OK.

  1. On the computer where you installed the Network Installation wizard patch, on the Start menu (Windows), click Programs > Autodesk > Network Installation Wizard.
  2. In the Network Installation wizard, on the Welcome page, select Modify an Administrative Image, and then click Next.
  3. On the Modify Administrative Image page, in the Select an MSI File box, select the existing Autodesk installer file (MSI) from the shared network location that contains the administrative image you want to modify. Users install Autodesk Raster Design from this location.
  4. Select the option Apply a Patch (Service Pack) to This Image.
  5. In the Select Patch box, enter the path to the patch location (the location you entered in step 2, including the extension .msp). You can also Browse to locate the MSP file.
  6. Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Network Installation wizard to complete the deployment of this service pack.
